Two upgrade paths, depending on what your home actually needs

Not every home that "needs an upgrade" needs the same thing. Some genuinely need more power coming in from the street. Others just need their existing capacity organized and protected better. Knowing which one applies to you is the difference between an accurate quote and an overpriced one.

Highly Recommended

100A to 200A Service Upgrade

The standard upgrade for modern households needing genuinely more incoming power capacity.

  • Full panel swap with room for expansion
  • Service mast, weatherhead, and meter base as needed
  • Grounding brought fully up to current code
  • Utility coordination handled for you
Targeted Fix

Subpanel & Load Management

For homes with adequate incoming capacity that just need better organization or smarter distribution.

  • Secondary subpanel for a basement suite or workshop
  • Smart load-sharing hardware to protect your main panel
  • Correction of unsafe tandem breakers or crowded rails
  • Often the more affordable path when it applies
⚠️ Still on an old fuse panel? Some home insurers charge more, or decline coverage renewal, for homes with active knob-and-tube or fuse panels. Replacing a legacy panel removes a real fire risk and can help with insurance terms — worth checking with your provider directly.

Questions

Frequently Asked

How long is my power off during the upgrade? +

For a full 100A to 200A service upgrade, power is typically disconnected for about 4-6 hours. We coordinate the utility shutoff window ahead of time so the downtime is predictable, not a surprise.

Do you handle the permits and utility disconnect scheduling? +

Yes, completely. We file the ESA permit, coordinate the disconnect window with your utility (Toronto Hydro, Alectra, Hydro One, or your local provider), and provide your certified inspection paperwork.

What's the difference between a subpanel and a full 200A upgrade? +

A subpanel adds breaker space to organize circuits, but doesn't increase how much total power your home can draw from the street. A 200A upgrade replaces the main service to genuinely increase your home's total capacity, letting multiple high-draw items run at once.
